how to put tether on shock doctor mouthguard

Attaching a tether to a Shock Doctor mouthguard is a straightforward process that helps keep your mouthguard secure and easily accessible during sports or activities. Here’s how you can put a tether on a Shock Doctor mouthguard:

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Shock Doctor mouthguard
  • Tether (Shock Doctor mouthguards often come with a tether)
  • Small plastic clip (if not included with the tether)

Steps:

  1. Prepare Your Mouthguard:
    • Make sure your Shock Doctor mouthguard is clean and dry before attaching the tether.
  2. Locate the Attachment Hole:
    • Most Shock Doctor mouthguards have a small hole or opening near the front edge that is specifically designed for attaching a tether. This hole may be pre-drilled, or you may need to create it if your mouthguard doesn’t have one.
  3. Thread the Tether:
    • Take one end of the tether and thread it through the attachment hole from the outside of the mouthguard to the inside. Pull it through until there is a small loop or tail remaining on the outside.
  4. Secure the Tether:
    • Depending on the design of your tether, you may need to secure it in place. Some tethers come with a small plastic clip that you can attach to the loop or tail left outside the mouthguard. This clip helps prevent the tether from coming loose.
    • If your tether doesn’t have a clip, you can tie a secure knot with the loop or tail to prevent it from slipping back through the hole. Make sure the knot is tight and won’t easily come undone during activity.
  5. Adjust the Length (Optional):
    • If your tether has an adjustable length feature, you can adjust it to your preferred length. Ensure that it’s long enough to comfortably wear around your neck or attach to your gear, but not so long that it becomes a safety hazard.
  6. Test the Tether:
    • Give the tether a gentle tug to ensure it’s securely attached to the mouthguard. It should stay in place without coming loose.
  7. Wear or Store Your Mouthguard:
    • With the tether securely attached, you can now wear your Shock Doctor mouthguard during sports or activities. You can wear it around your neck, attach it to your gear, or use it as you see fit.
    • When you’re not using your mouthguard, store it in its protective case or a clean, dry place to keep it hygienic.

Attaching a tether to your Shock Doctor mouthguard is a convenient way to ensure you don’t lose or misplace it during sports or physical activities. It keeps your mouthguard readily available for use and helps maintain proper hygiene.
