how to change filament ender 3 v2 neo

Changing the filament on the Ender 3 V2 Neo (or any Ender 3 series printer) is a relatively straightforward process. Here are the steps to change the filament on your Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D printer:

Materials Needed:

  • New filament spool
  • Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D printer
  • Tweezers or needle-nose pliers (optional)

Steps:

  1. Preheat the Printer:
    • Turn on your Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D printer.
    • Preheat the nozzle to the printing temperature suitable for the type of filament you want to use. You can do this through the printer’s control menu.
    • Wait until both the nozzle and the heated bed reach the desired temperatures. The exact temperatures vary depending on the filament type; common temperatures are around 200°C for PLA and 230°C for ABS.
  2. Retract the Filament:
    • On the printer’s control menu, navigate to “Control” and then select “Retract.” This option will retract the current filament from the hotend.
  3. Cut the Filament:
    • While the filament is retracting, you can use a pair of tweezers or needle-nose pliers (if needed) to help pull the filament out. Cut the filament near the extruder gear, leaving a clean end.
  4. Unload the Filament:
    • Continue to retract the filament until it’s completely removed from the hotend. You may need to manually feed the filament through the extruder if it doesn’t come out easily.
  5. Load the New Filament:
    • Take your new filament spool and trim the end to create a clean, pointed tip. This will make it easier to feed into the extruder.
    • Insert the new filament into the filament guide tube (if you’re using one) and then into the extruder. Push the filament gently until it reaches the hotend.
  6. Load the Filament:
    • In the printer’s control menu, navigate to “Control” and then select “Load.” This option will engage the extruder gear and push the new filament through the hotend.
  7. Watch for Extrusion:
    • As the new filament feeds into the hotend, watch for filament to start extruding from the nozzle. This indicates that the new filament has replaced the old one.
  8. Calibrate Your First Layer (Optional):
    • After changing the filament, it’s a good practice to recalibrate your first layer height by adjusting the bed leveling knobs. This ensures proper adhesion to the print surface.
  9. Begin Printing:
    • With the new filament successfully loaded and extruding correctly, you can start your 3D print job as usual.
  10. Store the Old Filament:
    • Coil and store the old filament in a sealed bag or container to prevent moisture absorption.

By following these steps, you can easily change the filament on your Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D printer and continue with your 3D printing projects using different types or colors of filament.
