Materials Needed:

  • Bike
  • Skateboard
  • Skateboard rack or carrying straps (optional)

Steps:

  1. Prepare Your Bike: Ensure your bike is in good working condition, with properly functioning brakes and tires.
  2. Choose a Mounting Method:
    • Skateboard Rack: If you have a skateboard rack designed for bikes, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to attach it to your bike’s frame. This is the most secure and stable option.
    • Carrying Straps: If you don’t have a skateboard rack, you can use carrying straps designed for skateboards. These straps typically consist of a Velcro strap that goes around your skateboard and a longer strap that you can attach to your bike’s frame.
  3. Attach the Skateboard: If you’re using a skateboard rack, place your skateboard on the rack with the grip tape facing upward. Secure it in place using the rack’s clamps or straps.

If you’re using carrying straps, place the skateboard on the ground with the grip tape facing up. Wrap the Velcro strap around the skateboard deck, securing it tightly. Then, attach the longer strap to the Velcro strap, creating a loop that can be hung on your bike.

  1. Select a Mounting Location: Choose a suitable location on your bike to attach the skateboard. Common locations include the top tube (the horizontal tube connecting the seat tube to the head tube) or the down tube (the tube running from the handlebars to the pedals).
  2. Secure the Skateboard: If using a skateboard rack, secure the skateboard in place according to the rack’s instructions. Make sure it’s tightly fastened and won’t move during your ride.

If using carrying straps, loop the longer strap over the selected tube on your bike’s frame and fasten it securely. Ensure the skateboard hangs parallel to the bike and is well-balanced.

  1. Test for Stability: Before you start riding, gently push the skateboard to make sure it’s securely attached and won’t shift while you’re biking.
  2. Ride Safely: While riding your bike with the skateboard attached, be cautious of your surroundings and maintain control of your bike. Take turns carefully and avoid sudden movements that could affect the skateboard’s stability.
  3. Disembark Safely: When you reach your destination, dismount your bike carefully to avoid damaging the skateboard. Unfasten the skateboard from your bike, whether it’s from the rack or carrying straps.
  4. Stow the Skateboard: If you’re not planning to use the skateboard immediately, find a safe place to store it while you enjoy your bike ride.

By following these steps, you can safely and conveniently carry your skateboard on your bike, allowing you to switch between biking and skateboarding during your adventures. Always ensure that the skateboard is securely fastened and doesn’t interfere with your ability to control your bike.
